I liked some of the health articles, but the issue I looked at recently had way too much of a Christian-type faith-based slant. Not for me; just give me the science, please.

As other reviewers have stated, this is not the Prevention Magazine I remember from years past, one that was of more universal interest. It's a shadow of its former self that might be called "Prevention for Women" or "Prevention Light". In fact, there's so much redundancy from issue to issue that buying one issue is almost as good as buying a year's subscription.
So what can a reader expect to find in her issue Prevention Magazine? On the cover she'll see a photo of an attractive female celebrity, someone in her late 30's to mid 40's who appears to be in picture perfect condition. Within the covers she'll find articles about: beauty regimens and products, workouts, healthy foods, tummy trimming foods and exercises, healthy recipes, and money saving tips.
For the most part the articles in this little magazine are abbreviated and superficial. A recent article about pet health insurance states some pros and cons and then refers the reader to several pet insurance sites. There's really nothing definitive in the article.
On most covers a big number will be flashed across the page - 185 Best Health Tips, 287 Genius Ways associated with a bulleted list of topics, Toned arms in 60 seconds, and on and on.
Doctors,I'm sure, appreciate the bunches of ads in every issue that tout prescription medicines. And these aren't preventive drugs either.
Prevention is a lightweight magazine figuratively and literally. It's best left in waiting rooms as a means to fill some empty minutes.

MY MOTHER AND I USED TO GET THIS MAGAZINE FOR MANY MANY YEARS IN THE PAST. I DECIDED TO TRY IT AGAIN AFTER NOT SUBSCRIBING FOR A LONG TIME. I AM GOING TO CANCEL. THE ARTICLES OVER THE LAST THREE MAGAZINES HAVE BEEN USELESS AND UNINTERESTING TO ME. ALSO, THE MAGAZINE SIZE IS SO MUCH SMALLER THAN IT USED TO BE. NOT A GOOD VALUE LIKE IT USED TO BE.

I'm trying to cut back on magazine subscriptions but couldn't resist the deal at Amazon. Easy to cancel if I don't want to renew. Even with the great prices here, though, I'm limiting myself to relevent magazines, which this one definitely is. Great tips and info that I can apply to my life.
