On Political Nomad-ism and the notion of a cosmopolitan city

By Hassan Abdullahi

The issues affecting Garissa are ones that are politically
fueled in most cases. Garissa does not suffer any problem in
line with tribal Supremacy. if any thing the cause of clashes
are political leaders whose deference among themselves
spreads  towards tribe so that they can get support in their
clans men hence lead to tribal conflicts.
The strategic location of Garissa and the diversity of the
people inhabiting  the city make  it look like a cosmopolitan
town. This sometimes triggers problems regarding its
ownership. Looking at common sense and natural justice the
inhabitors of a particular area are owners of that area and
also our country being democratic country the majority are
always winners in a certain place.

On the above note Kenya’s boundaries are majorly political
boundaries and formally being constituency boundaries in
most cases on that note so many people who leave in
Garissa role out to their respective constituencies of origin to
vote. These very people come back to Garissa and scramble
to share resources with those who voted in Garissa and at
the same time gets their shear from their constituencies in
name of Garissa being a cosmopolitan town. As a reminder
even during the population census these very people
traveled to other places to boost numbers for their places of
origin.

I totally and openly object to the very idea of people saying
Garissa is a cosmopolitan town they are unfair and selfish
people who only look at their own interest am sorry if I offend
It’s my hope and prayer that the new constitution will settle
these scores and the solution will only come if the idea of
political nomad’s is stopped and the integrity of those whom
we give them positions is vetted well.
